These are exciting times for portraiture. Professional and amateur photographers alike have responded to the cultural, social and technological changes by reinterpreting the age-old genre of creating portraits of themselves and of others. Preserving and renewing traditions go hand in hand in contemporary photography, and portraiture have gained much along the way. The possible contexts are endless, and remaining neutral is almost impossible. Portraiture has changed, and we may as well take a closer look at where we are now.
